Welcome to SHLDNet!
SHLDNet is a network of Spanish Heritage Language (SHL) program directors and coordinators that seeks to promote educational excellence and student advocacy. Our goal is to build collaboration among SHL directors, coordinators, and supervisors throughout the US to design effective and asset-approach classes. We host a yearly session at the National Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language to create a space where ideas and experiences about current SHL program direction are discussed.
Our inaugural panel entitled “What I wished I knew before directing, coordinating or supervising a Spanish Heritage Language Program? Key aspects learned from experience and research” was at the 9th National Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language.
The panel’s purpose is to discuss the state of Spanish Heritage Language program direction, and to have a conversation on how to create SHL programs that validate students' linguistic experiences so that they can become active agents of their learning process.
